MARITIME PILOTAGE INSTITUTE (MPI)


What you need to know about MPI

Established in 2023 as an integral part of MPM, MPI is structured to deliver the framework and role as an institution of maritime pilots for the benefits of MPM's members and to support the maritime industry and government of Malaysia to meet global sustainability as a maritime nation.

Today, Maritime Pilotage Institute (MPI) conduct research and development activities including training and continuous professional development (CPD) for the benefits of its members on a national level to alleviate the safety standard and professionalism of maritime pilots in Malaysia particulary to meet the challenges in the maritime industry.

MPI keeps important archives of maritime pilotage data and industry references to support respective governmental agencies.

Training Course Review - Certification & Endorsement

MPI welcome any parties who is interested to offer training courses for the maritime pilots in Malaysia to submit its course content for sanction and scrutiny.

Course content submitted will be reviewed and audited in accordance to IMO standards and requirements, including Malaysia's pilotage requirements in general.

All courses should be designed and conducted with the objective to improvish the professionalism of maritime pilots and developments affecting the shipping and pilotage industry.

Upon the completion of review and/or audit and acceptance of the submitted course, the subject course provider will be issued with a valid Course Endorsement Certificate.
